Several years ago, a college professor from Alabama came to faith in Christ and gave up his secular teaching job in order to attend seminary and become a pastor. He took a mission trip to some communist bloc countries — i.e. “behind the Iron Curtain” — to teach pastors who had no formal theological training and saw first hand how hungry they were for teachers. As a result, he began to work for a missions organization, which gave him opportunity to teach pastors in China, Vietnam and Myanmar.
When he saw the great need in Myanmar he contacted Carl Hunt (the man who had shared the Gospel with him that resulted in his conversion) because he needed help getting teachers to Myanmar. Carl contacted his long-time friend, Curtis Thomas (now serving as an advisor to the Little Door board of directors), and they began making regular trips to Myanmar to teach in Bible Schools and churches.
Curtis then contacted his close friend, Tom Arnold, and asked him if he too would come to Myanmar to help spread the gospel. For a number of years, they journeyed there together. They realized the need was too great for them to meet on their own and they formed Little Door International. Over the years, Little Door has financed the construction of buildings, provided study materials, computers, programs, generators, purchased vehicles, provided funds for self-supporting cottage industries, funded the translation of the New Testament into the Lai (Chin) language, and helped start the Judson College and Seminary in Yangon.
